Technical presentation

Alvin is a platform for archiving and publishing of digital resources, for digitized physical objects as well as purely digital information. Alvin stores these resources together with descriptive metadata, according to a metadata scheme based primarily on MODS and EAD, schemas developed by the Library of Congress.

Alvin's metadata model is described here:

Alvin offers long-term storage of the material, and an attractive platform for publication, including a powerful search engine, persistent identifiers and permanent URI:s through URN:NBN.

Import av data into Alvin is done through a combination of METS and MODS.

Alvin allows harvesting of metadata records through OAI-PMH Version 2, The Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting.

Metadata records from Alvin are available according to Creative Commons CC0.
